According to the Cambridge Advanced Learner's Dictionary ¹, the word "plagiarism" refers to the "the act of using another person's words or ideas without giving credit to that person". While outright plagiarism can often be clearly defined, it is important to understand how improper citation of sources may also be constituted as plagiarism.
