NTU CourseReserves: NIE Course Readings Guide

A guide to NIE's new course readings management system

Track your progress, contribute to a discussion and export citations

To keep track of your reading, click on the tick on the right to mark items as read.

A green tick will be displayed at the end of the title of the citation.

If you have interesting thoughts or observations about a reading, you can add a private note to remind you later.

Click on the title you are interested in, then click on the Add note link to open a note window;

After typing a note, click Save. This private note will only be visible to you.

You can also Like resources so you can keep track of the readings you have enjoyed

Click on the item record and then click on the Like button on the right-hand side of the screen;

A little heart will appear next to each title that you have liked.

Your instructor may choose to include discussion threads within your reading list. There are 2 different discussion options that may be available;

1) At the list level - the discussion thread will appear on the right-hand side of the screen

2) At the individual reading level - you will find the thread by clicking on an individual title and navigating again to the right-hand side of the screen

In both instances, the discussion thread box will look like this.

The discussion thread function is activated at the discretion of the instructor and some may choose not to use it in the reading list.

Leganto gives you the option to export your reading list in various formats, including as a Word document, spreadsheet, PDF, or as an RIS file that you can import into EndNote or Mendeley.

1. Click on the ellipsis (...) at the top of your list.

2. Select Export from the drop-down list;

3, Choose the citation style from the drop-down list.

4. Make sure to review your output to ensure the citations are correctly formatted.

NOTE: the citations will mostly be inaccurate, so please refer to the APA style guide to correct the errors!
