Article Processing Charges (APCs)

Overview

Researchers have multiple options for making their work openly accessible. While depositing research outputs in an institutional repository is free, some authors may opt to publish gold open access in fully open access journals or hybrid journals. These choices often involve Article Processing Charges (APCs), which are fees paid to publishers to cover the cost of making an article open access.

Support for APCs

The Library supports NIE researchers through agreements with publishers on APCs for open access publishing. These agreements offer a mix of APC waivers or discounts. The initiative helps authors publish their research openly while reducing financial barriers, thereby enhancing the visibility and accessibility of NIE's research outputs.
