Importing Reference to Zotero Library

You can populate your Zotero library from PDFs using either of the following methods.

Method 1:

  1.  In your "My Documents" folder, click on the PDF files that you want to import into Zotero. Press and hold the CTRL key to select more than one PDF file.
  2. Drag and drop them into your Zotero reference panel.

 

Method 2:

  1. Click on the green "+" icon.
  2. Select "Link to file". In the pop-up window, click on the PDF files that you want to import into Zotero. Press and hold the CTRL key to select more than one PDF file.

  1. Ensure that your Zotero library is already open.

  2. From the Library Search result list, check the boxes for results that your want to export. Click the "..." icon to show more options.

  1. A list of file options will appear. Select “Export RIS” then click on the “Download” button.

  1. Double-click on the RIS. file (or find it in your downloads folder and click "Open with > Zotero") to start the import.

  1. Ensure that you have installed the Zotero Connector to your browser. Your Zotero library must also be open.
  2. Click on the apostrophe (”) icon.

  1. Select RefMan as the export format.

  1. You will be prompted by Zotero Connector. Check the box for “Always allow for this site”.

  1. Subsequently, this pop-up will appear to indicate the reference is being saved to your Zotero library. You can choose which collection in your Zotero library you want to save it to.


 

Editing References in Zotero

  1. Click on the reference that you want to edit.
  2. In the editing panel on the right, click on the field that you want to edit (e.g title) and type. Changes made are automatically saved.
