The year 2024 marks the centenary of Dr Muhammad Ariff Ahmad (MAS) who was born on 6 Dec 1924.
The Asian Languages & Cultures Department (ALC) of the National Institute of Education (NIE) Singapore, in collaboration with Lembaga Biasiswa Kenangan Maulud (or LBKM), a prominent bursary institution in the Malay/Muslim community, organised a series of activities to commemorate the centenary of MAS whose remarkable contributions to this nation and the region deserve to be memorialized.
The MAS Commemorative Lecture is one of the events.
Dr. Muhammad Ariff Ahmad, also known as MAS, was an award-winning writer, a community leader, and a lecturer of the Institute of Education, Singapore.
He has left significant impact on many Malay language teachers and the Malay community at large, locally and regionally, with his wisdom, dedication in teaching and vast knowledge of Malay language, literature and culture.
