Research Data Management

Purpose of Licensing

A license is a document that clearly sets out how the data can be used and attributed to the original data owner.

Without a license, it is unclear how your data can be reused and this may discourage the potential re-user.

Creative Commons Licenses

Creative Commons provides a range of licenses where each license grants different rights to use the materials under them. Use the Creative Commons license chooser to help you decide which license is best for your material.

The sharing of NIE owned research data (where possible) shall be based on Creative Commons license CC BY-NC, where others may reuse the data for non-commercial applications only and must correctly attribute the data source in NIE.
