Benefits of a Scopus Author ID

Scopus Author ID is a unique 11-digit identifier that is automatically assigned to an author who has published at least one article in a journal that is indexed in Scopus. It groups together all the publications written by that author on the Scopus author profile.

You may have more than one Scopus Author IDs. This is likely the result of:

  • Name variants in different publications.
  • Changes in affiliation to another institution.

You cannot directly correct your Scopus profile, but you can request Scopus to do it for youPossible scenarios that you may encounter:

  1. You have works listed under more than one Author ID;
  2. You have one Author ID but there are missing publications;
  3. You have one Author ID but there are publications listed that do not belong to you.

Kindly contact the Scopus Support Center or submit your request through the Author Feedback Wizard.

NOTE:  Access to Scopus is limited to on-site access at NTU Library. Please bring your staff card to enter NTU Library and enquire at the counter if you need assistance.

How do I Know if it Needs Correcting?

You can use the following tool to check if any corrections need to be made to your Scopus profile:

How to Merge Multiple Author IDs?

1. Go to Author Feedback Wizard. You will be required to create an account with Scopus if you do not have one. Sign in with your Scopus login details.

2. Conduct an Author search. The Author search results page opens.

3. From the Author search results page, select author names to merge.

4. Click 'Request to merge authors'. The Author Feedback Wizard popup opens, notifying you of the changes you are able to make with the tool.

5. Click 'Proceed to make changes'. You will be prompted to enter a preferred name for the merged author profiles. Scopus provides a suggested preferred name, but you have the option to select other name preferences available in Scopus.

6. Select a name preference and click 'Continue'. You will be prompted to identify if you are the author or making a request on the behalf of the author’s profile.

7. Select one of the available options and click 'Continue'. The Author Feedback Wizard opens and displays the list of documents for the author profiles to be merged.

8. Optional: If you discover there are missing documents among the author profiles to be merged, you have the option to locate missing documents. To do so, click 'Search missing documents'. The Search missing documents popup opens.

  • Within 'Search', enter your search term.
  • From the Search drop-down, select the type of search term entered. For example, you may search for Digital Object Identifier (DOI).
  • Click 'Search'. A list of results opens.
  • From the result list, select a document to add to your Author Feedback Wizard document list.
  • Click 'Confirm Author'. The selected document is added to your Author Feedback Wizard document list.

9. Optional: If you would like to add another profile to be merged, click 'Select Profile'. The Author Feedback Wizard lists the results from your previous Author search.

  • From the results list, select one or more author profile names to be merged.
  • Click 'Review documents'. You will be prompted to enter a preferred name for the merged author profiles. Scopus provides a suggested preferred name, but you have the option to select other name preferences available in Scopus.
  • Select a name preference and click 'Continue'. You will be prompted to identify if you are the author or making a request on the behalf of the author’s profile.
  • Select one of the available options and click 'Continue'. The Author Feedback Wizard opens and displays the list of documents for the author profiles to be merged.

10. Once the documents are reviewed, click 'Review affiliation'. The Review affiliation form opens. Scopus provides a suggested affiliation for the merged author profiles, but you have the option to select from the drop-down list.

11. Once an affiliation is selected, click 'Confirm and Submit'. The Confirm page opens.

12. Review the information provided on the Confirm page. Click 'Submit' to submit you Author Feedback Wizard form to merge the selected author profiles.

How to Request Author Detail Corrections?

1. Go to Author Feedback Wizard. You will be required to create an account with Scopus if you do not have one. Sign in with your Scopus login details.

2. Conduct an Author search. The Author search results page opens.

3. From the Author search results page, click on an author’s name. The Author details page opens.

4. From the Author details page, click 'Request author details corrections'. The Author Feedback Wizard popup opens, notifying you of the changes you are able to make with the tool.

5. Click 'Proceed to make changes'. You will be prompted to enter a preferred name for the merged author profiles. Scopus provides a suggested preferred name, but you have the option to select other name preferences available in Scopus.
