Research Visibility: Managing Author Profiles

Benefits of a Web of Science Researcher Profile

The Web of Science researcher profile allows researchers to track their publications indexed in Web of Science and citation metrics. It also lets them verify and showcase their peer review and editorial contributions for academic journals.

Publons has now been integrated with the Web of Science and ResearcherID.

Create Web of Science Researcher Profile

Note: Publons profiles were migrated to Web of Science researcher profiles. If you previously owned a Publons profile, log in to the Web of Science with your previous Publons credentials to access your existing profile data.

Step 1: Go to Web of Science. Create an account if you do not have one.

Note: If you have a login for EndNote, you can use the same one as the product is owned by Clarivate.

Step 2: Register for a Web of Science account. You can either use an institutional email (eg. xxx@nie.edu.sg) or a web-based email. A link will be emailed to you for confirmation in order to complete the registration process.

Step 3: Activate account by clicking the link in the registration confirmation email.

Claim Author Record

Step 1: In the Researchers tab, type your last name into the search box, and select the matching option. Do the same for your first name or initial. Include alternative names if appropriate, then click Search.

Step 2: Click on your name in the results list. If there are multiple author records, check the relevant boxes and click View as combined record.

Step 3: Click Claim my record on the author record page.

Step 4: Follow the on-screen instructions to verify your publications and then click Submit

Note: Verified author record shows a green checkmark next to the author name, once the publications are linked to your profile you can make edits to update your profile.

Add Publications

Step 1: Click Researcher Profile icon on the left-hand-side of the page

Step 2: Click +Manage

Step 3: Click + Add publications.

This will lead you to a page where you will see several options to populate your publication history on your Web of Science Researcher Profile.

Suggested publications

The system uses your name and/or email address to query Web of Science and allows you to claim the publications returned.

Step 1: Click View my publications.

Step 2: Select the publication(s) which you have authored.

Step 3: Click Submit.

You can also add publications via identifier/file upload or sync with ORCID.

Note:

  • Web of Science researcher profile does not automatically update with new publications. In order to keep your profile up-to date, publications need to be claimed.
  • Citation metrics are tracked for publications indexed in Web of Science only. To check if Web of Science indexes a particular journal, you can do a search in the Master Journal List.
  • If the journal issue is indexed but your article in the issue is not indexed, you can report the problem via the online form Data Change & Missing Article/Journal Issue Request.

Remove Publications

If there are publications which have been added to your profile that you would like to remove, you can delete via My publication records page.

Click Delete on the publication(s) you would like to remove and then confirm.

Note: For NTU's Promotion and Tenure (PT), remove items in your Web of Science Researcher Profile that belong to any of the following type of materials
